Sawfly larva - was on raspberry - Priophorus

Sawfly larva - was on raspberry - Priophorus
Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware, USA
July 4, 2009
Size: 13 mm
It was eating raspberry leaves, along with many similar sawfly larvae. They fell off the leaves when touched and I couldn't get decent photos of them on their foodplant.

At the bottom of the linked photo you can just see the head of one of these larvae sticking out of a hole in a leaf of the same raspberry plant.

thanks - and congrats :-)
Thanks for moving these for me, I didn't plan to leave them in ID Request for more than a day or two, but then came the flu...

And while we're in private, a big ol' "congratulations!" on your recent promotion to editor. The cork of a virtual champagne bottle is popping right now :-)

My pleasure.
Moving stuff now and again makes me feel useful.

And thanks for the kind words!
