Long red centipede - Strigamia

Long red centipede - Strigamia
Livermore, Alameda County, California, USA
January 2, 2010
Size: ~5-8cm
This was found alone under a rock in the grassy hills that surround Livermore, CA.

Moved from Soil Centipedes.

Definitely Strigamia from the bright red color and tapering in body width toward the head.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the western centipedes, but I'm working on this one since there are quite a few west coast Strigamia on this site. So you can expect a species ID at some point.

Moved from ID Request.

Looks like
one of the Soil Centipedes in the order Geophilomorpha.

Someone else may be able to give you a more specific identification.
