Moved from Frass.

do the legs look yellow to you?
That's another factor to consider when separating E. marginipennis and the E. childreni subspecies. Only male E. c. guexi has yellow legs - although a male would typically have a more widely pale anterolateral pronotal angle.

Hm. Curiouser and curiouser.

Let's hang onto this one too, if you don't mind. A few more images won't make the Exochomus section unmanageable - it's getting bigger, but by no means overrepresented.

Yes, Exochomus
Suggest moving to genus for now - there are a number of species possible for Texas, and taxonomic debate is raging about two of them.

I was just going to frass this one...
There are several from TX, including another one of mine taken on the same fence.

Okay, just keep the best here for us!
If anyone ever sorts the taxonomy out, we may wind up with a new species or subspecies, and some of our "genus-only" photos might end up there.

(Conversely, a whole species might be downgraded to a subspecies of another, and then we'd suddenly have a lot of "extra" images for it...)
