Ever since Tony posted his photo I've been checking every wasp for gapping plates. Sited this one today and chased her around until she got downright rude about my looking up her skirts. My shot still doesn't match Tony's but maybe it will contribute.

Correct
The host is a Polistes. I was speculating on the "thing" that is deforming the abdomenal plates
