Baridinae - female

Baridinae - Female
Sabal Palm Sanctuary, se. Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas, USA
May 29, 2009
Two specimens were caught, both by beating palm inflorescences in the central Palm Grove.

From Jens Prena (Jan 2010), ... "The weevil on the web page looks like one I have received from Pharr [Hidalgo Co.] with unknown origin. It is almost certainly associated with palm fruits. The complex includes many genera, most of which have only one species and the generic limits disintegrate once more species are included. I am unaware of anything that comes particularly close to this species (I would need to see a male), but it is close to Eugeraeus, Cesennia and Gravatageraeus. "
