Pasimachus marginatus
Mechanicsville, St Marys County, Maryland, USA
September 2, 1993
Size: 32 mm
looks like
Pasimachus
but is dull black not shiny --very large ridges on elytra not smooth-slightly bluish on edges of pronotum & elytra

I don't know how to link images yet. I'm still learning the site, which is fantastic I might add. I have a lot of photos that do not need ID that I would also like to submit. Got to figure that out too. This Carabidae is 32 mm as I measured it with calipers but the large ridges on the elytra is what has thrown me off.

Definitely Pasimachus, possib
Definitely Pasimachus, possibly P. sublaevis, but your measurment of 32 mm seems a bit large, but then I'm not sure what the size range should be. P. marginatus would be the right size, but I think it ranges farther south.

Reminds me a lot
of the P. marginatus that I see here in Florida, and North Carolina (see map data) isn't THAT far from Maryland. As far as I know, nothing else in the northeast is dull and ridged like that. NAET. (This may be a useful acronym for the great group of us who say--or should--"Not an expert though.")
