Caddisfly

Caddisfly
Ballston Lake, Saratoga County, New York, USA
July 15, 2009
Attracted to porch light. Not sure if it's a caddisfly or a moth. ID help appreciated.

Karl - if you are keeping specimens try and get them to Luke before posting as he may be able to provide genus/species and avoid alot of guessing here. I think think this may be one of the polycentropodids. Head to wingtip length would also help.

I'm just taking pictures
at this point. I suppose I could collect specimens next time around. I invited Luke to do some collecting here, if he likes. I didn't pay much attention to the caddisflies this year, was too busy shooting moths. I'll try to estimate the length of this one tomorrow by measuring the distance between the perforations on the Tyvec it was resting on.
