Tersa sphinx - green form - Xylophanes tersa

Tersa sphinx - green form - Xylophanes tersa
Gainesville, Florida, USA
April 29, 2004
This is the green form, seen here on Hamelia patens - Firebush (I was taking cuttings and this guy was amongst them). I thought it might be X. pluto which is more often seen on Hamelia, but the extra eye-spots along the stripe rule that out. This is according to Bill Oehlke, who helped me with ID - I found him through his website Sphingidae of the Americas.
