This is actually a very handsome male Iridopsis dataria. Nice photo.

to large to be Iridopsis dataria
I will find my notes from my discussion with Dr. Knudson who determined these. Some were going to BOLD

details
What was the size of this particular specimen? Was it an estimate or taken in hand? *edit: I should add that I. dataria ranges in size from approx 27-35mm wingspan, so a large dataria can easily appear similar in size to a small P. quernaria.

The terminal edge of the FW, the well defined pale, scalloped ST line, the distinct black band across the first abdominal segment, and the entire HW are completely inconsistent with any Oak Beauty specimens, but spot on for I. dataria.

While P. quernaria is highly variable, the PM line of the forewing follows a consistent pattern (thus far confirmed as 100% consistent via DNA ID'd specimens), which is not seen in your specimen (which does however, have the PM line matched perfectly with that of I. dataria).

The PM line of the quernaria FW, always comes off the inner margin in a sharp distad direction creating a small but distinct projection before swooping back and upward. In I. dataria, and your specimen here, the PM line comes off of the inner margin in a gentle basad curve which then moves up and out.

I'm quite certain that your specimen here is not a P. quernaria. Feel free to put Dr. Knudson in touch with me about this specimen and I can share with him my observations. Perhaps he sees something I don't or vice versa, but I'd be more than happy to discuss it with him.
