rhino beetle grub
This looks exactly like a 3rd instar coconut rhinoceros beetle,
Oryctes rhinoceros
grub. This species occurs occurs in Asia and several Pacific Islands including Guam and American Samoa. See
http://guaminsects.net/anr/sites/default/files/CRB%20larvae%20with%20guage_1.pdf
.
As far as I know, the coconut rhino beetle has never been detected in North America, so hopefully this is not
Oryctes rhinoceros
but some other look-alike member of Dynastinae.
