Roach molt - Parcoblatta virginica - male

Roach molt - Parcoblatta virginica - Male
Perry County, Pennsylvania, USA
Size: 19 mm
There is simply no word to describe how they look when they molt. Alien would be the best I can think of.

And the way that the wings unfurl just astounds me.

Nice photo
It’s hard to be certain, but looking at the spot where the species-identifying characteristic hairs are located it does look like the dispersed pattern of P. virginica but with the glare and paleness of the newly molted specimen it might just be my imagination. This is a neat image.

Thanks
I have a closer shot of that area if you think it would help.

I have been told that the heart is visible in this photo since the roach's exoskeleton is see-through.
