Wingspan 3.4-4.1 cm
Identification
Round black spot on inner margin, black "bits" near base of forewings. A little crest is visible from the side.
Range
Eastern North America
Season
Two broods over much of Eastern America, four or more in the South (March to late October for adults, May in to November for mature larvae).
Food
In the wild larvae feed on low growing members of the legume family (Fabaceae). Examples include Panicled Tick Trefoil (Desmodium paniculatum), Hog Peanut Vine (Amphicarpaea bracteata), Wisteria (Wisteria species), and Rattle Bean (Sesbania drummondii).
