This is a close up view of some lice sent in for identification. The left side shows the underside and the right side shows the dorsal view.

The host was a dog. This image and Bug Guide image #369118 were sent to Dr. Nancy Hinkle, Veterinary Entomologist at the University of Georgia for identification.

The species is Trichodectes canis.

Thanks for your "lousy" submission: it's real hard getting images of uncharismatic species like fleas and lice- most people are trying to get rid of them, not photograph them.
