Demodex sp. - Demodex

Demodex sp. - Demodex
New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana, USA
February 4, 2010
Size: microscopic
Demodex mite, inadvertantly mounted on a slide of a colon biopsy. At least I assume it was inadvertantly mounted, and did not originate in the patient's colon. I need to doublecheck the size, but I'm pretty sure this is roughly 500x magnification.

Moved
Moved from Acariformes.

Demodex sp.
Agree with diagnosis. Also agree most-likely did not come from colon specimen. Could be a lab error in mounting or a contaminant. Usually in biopsy specimens, these get sliced-and-diced and dont retain all the features seen here.
