Cybaeopsis wabritaska - male

Cybaeopsis wabritaska - Male
Wrangell, Alaska, USA
December 11, 2008
Size: 5.3 mm
Found under a rock next to the Little League Baseball field. Typical cryptic mottled brown abdomen for this group of families where the only way to id is by the genitalia. This one has a very distinctive palpal tibia with it's double 90 degree processes. Since it's very dark, it's hard to get a good photo of this part. The species name has an interesting origin--the known range was Washington, British Columbia and Alaska--WA BRIT ASKA.

Funny, I was looking at the illustration (fig. 92) in Leech (1972) and was about to ask about whether it also be the species fig. 93 -- until I finally realized that both illustrations were of the same species.

Nice!
