Size

Identification
Other aphidiine genera with the fore wing venation pattern similar to Aphidius, with the large closed cell, are Xenostigma, Monoctonus, and Pauesia. Only in Aphidius is the r vein much longer than the r-m vein, and vein R1 reaching more than half way from the stigma to the wing apex.

Common throughout the New World
Food
Females lay a single egg in each aphid host.
Remarks
A few members of this genus, such as A. matricaria (from Europe) have been introduced to fight aphids and are available commercially.
