Black-Spotted Prominent larvae, 5th instar -
Dasylophia anguina
Town of Plymouth, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, USA
September 28, 1996
These are 5th instar larvae. They formed small brown pupae on October 4, 1996. Pupae overwintered in refrigerator and adults eclosed on May 28, 1997.

Black-Spotted Prominent larvae
Janice J. Stiefel Hi Hannah! I'm glad someone noticed that. The posing they did. I just happened to be lucky and have the camera ready at that moment. After I got the slide back, I realized how nice that was of them. It would not be easy to achieve on my own. Caterpillars are quite independent and don't always stay still for a photo op, especially if any sun hits them.
