Lasiopogon
Is a new genus for Louisiana. And L. piestolophus occurs in AL. L. schizopygus is the other likely animal for the area. Females can be tough. But I will look at the characters on those two species at home in the giant Lasiopogon book from Cannings. And I will have him come take a look.

Lasiopogon
Hi Herschel,
A while back we posted images of a mated pair of MS Lasiopogon sp. on BugGuide. The male can be seen here. I don't know if they are the same species as the LA female.

Looks very close
I will check them both at home.

Moved
Moved from Robber Flies.

The eyes
diverging apart at the top indicate that this is Lasiopogon. I will look around, but I don't know that I can suggest a species.
