One of the more beautiful places I've been... - female

One of the more beautiful places I've been... - Female
Dark Canyon, San Jacinto Mountains, Riverside County, California, USA
August 18, 2003
It's not recent, but I couldn't resist including a photo of some truly spectacular scenery. My husband took this photo while we were out scouting for possible wedding spots. We actually got married just a little ways from where this photo was taken...

In those days, I never went anywhere without binocular. My life was all about birdwatching then... I was still several years away from discovering the wonders that the insect world had to offer.

Some spanish practice for you, neener-neener...
Usted embellece esas piedras. ¡Gracias por compartiendo esta foto maravillosa y la historia detrás de ello! :)
Hmm, español ha dado mí hipo. Eso es extraño.

My best translation...
You beautify those stones. Thanks for sharing this marvelous photo and the history behind it! Hmm, Spanish has given me the hiccups. That is strange.

That is strange! Did you try the taking a sip of water and then swallowing it with your head between your legs trick? Something about swallowing water while upside down seems to work for me usually...

Simpler remedy
Stick your tongue out. So far, so good. Curve it downward. Put a longish pencil underneath. Drink water slowly from a glass. (Originally, I did this with an adult beverage, but water is cheaper and doesn't scald your eyes if/when you spew.)

Maybe you shoud just skip all the other stuff...
...and simply have an adult beverage. The hiccups might not go away, but after a few minutes you probably won't mind so much. (*smile*)

Nice one, Harsi!
:)

Perfecto on the translation :^)
I've heard that upside hiccups cure before... never tried it myself, but I saw somebody do it once. Haha, it's kinda one of those things that makes you think, "Is this a joke?" But I guess it works?

PS- I stole the cool smiley w/ nose from Scott Justis. I'd never seen that one before. ;^)

smiley w/ nose
i shall ask Kim about his hallmark ^^ thing...

I'll only use it this once...
...especially if it's his trademark. I like when people have those and I like to honor them. It can be as unique as a name. Like =v= for instance. :)

If only we could steal his camera equipment too!
Every time I look at his photos I go positively green with envy. So exquisitely beautiful...

Hi Harsi,
I'm glad you found some shots. You picked a beautiful place for a wedding!

Its nice to finally put a face to the name :)
and spectacular scenery indeed, the wedding must have been really nice in such a place :)

Though I hope this doesn't mean I have to post a picture of myself now, it seems everybody has been doing it lately! haha.

Come over to the dark side...
C'mon, everyone's doing it, Chris! (*smile*) Seriously, I'm really surprised that I decided to post these, so I can definitely understand your reluctance. And, yes, the wedding was quite nice, though probably not in a way that most people tend to imagine. We only really had one prerequisite for the location and that was that it be someplace where we couldn't see any visible signs of human development (i.e., telephone poles, roads, houses, etc.). All in all, I thought it was pretty perfect, though most brides wouldn't consider swatting at mosquitoes between vows and wearing hiking boots under their dress to be a "dream wedding". :-)

binoculars & wedding dress
can't keep the picture out of my mind, Sitchen...

Last minute...
...I decided it wouldn't be very appropriate to bring the binocular. However, I do have vivid memories of trying to focus on the vows and being terribly distracted by some intriguing bird winging by. Come to think of it, it's a very good thing that I wasn't so into arthropods at the time or I probably would have also been trying to ID the mosquitoes that were having a field day with my bare legs and arms. :-)
