Numbers
Approximately 21 species are known for the group world-wide. Greatest diversity are found in the Neotropical region. Of those, only one species is present in the Nearctic region.
Identification
Can be separated from Eucnemis based on dense vestitures on the dorsal surface of the body.
Range
Mainly subtropical and tropical in distribution. The spingle Nearctic species is restricted to southeastern part of the U.S.
Habitat
Largely found in forested areas.
Season
Early May through the end of June.
