Great series of images
What did you feed him? How did you keep him healthy? Sure looks like snakeskin!

To keep it alive
The ones here feed on grape leaves so I would go and pick some grape vines (everyday-fresh ones)-put them in water and put the caterpillar and fresh vines in a net cage. Make sure you cover the water container around the stems with plastic or tin foil-so the caterpillar doesn't fall into it and drown. Use soil around the bottom of the cage-slightly-very slightly moist. When theyare ready they go to the ground dig a depression and pupate-and then you wait.

Now the one thing I'm not sure about is if they wait till Spring to emerge-as I have one that seems fine-but hasn't emerged yet.

I learned all that from my mistakes before. But raising the caterpillar was easy.

Nice series, Jo!
I noticed you currently have the same date on each one, but I'm guessing that's just because you submitted them all together - are you able to edit to show the actual dates for each image? It would be interesting to see how long this took.
