This, along with several other springtails, were swirling around in a woodland seep. This guy caught onto a leaf and crawled on.

Moved from Poduromorpha.

Note the specimen is preparing for a jump: it begins to eject its 3 anal vesicles. These anal vesicles are characteristic to Hypogastruridae and are quite sticky. They serve one purpose: when the specimen lands after a jump it sticks immediately to the substrate iso bouncing around...
