little orbweaver - Metepeira grandiosa

little orbweaver - Metepeira grandiosa
Morse Wildlife Preserve, Pierce County, Washington, USA
February 20, 2010
Size: around 5 mm
Found in prairie grass. ID from Rod Crawford. Juvenile, will mature in May or June.

Moved from Metepeira.

Looks too dark for foxi
If so, then this must be grandiosa grandiosa

I'm not sure what to do with it since it was still a juvenile. Not having much experience with these, I don't know how much they change as they molt. I'm going to try another collection at the site in June, and then we'll know for sure.

From Rod Crawford:
Has to be either M. lanei or M. grandiosa. (Lanei is a synonym for foxi)
