CA native walkingstick - Timema

CA native walkingstick - Timema
Marin County, California, USA
February 24, 2010
Size: ~10 mm body length
This walkingstick nymph was found dead in the pool. It was collected and preserved in ethanol for my entomology class... Most of the other students were not aware there were native walkingsticks in this area! It was brighter green before being placed in the alcohol.

Do you still have the specimen?
If so, if you could get a clear, detailed, high-res dorsal image of the terminalia we may be able to conclusively ID this one. It looks like it may be a male (if so, try to clearly separate the intradextral process from the dextral and sinistral cerci and place them in close to their natural position before taking photos. If it's a female (or just in case) ventral and profile shots of the terminalia may be helpful.

I'd guess it...
...is T. californicum again. Especially if there were oaks near the pool...and not doug firs or redwoods.
