Hyalophora

Hyalophora "kasloensis" - Hyalophora euryalus - Female
n. of Spokane, Spokane County, Washington, USA
"Kasloensis" on Maple
----------------------------------------------------------------

Hyalophora "kasloensis"
(H. euryalus var. "kasloensis")

Characteristics of the adult moths from this area strongly resemble euryalus, however, the larvae and cocoons are much more suggestive of "kasloensis". Due to charactersistics seen in the immature stages (larvae & cocoons) these populations are best recognized as members of the "kasloensis" group.

Moved
Moved from Ceanothus Silkmoth.

Wow
That lucky guy, I'm jealous! Do you know the date he took this?

I'd have to ask.....(this pic didn't specify)
f.y.i. - Scott has been observing, photographing, rearing and collecting Hyalophora for several decades! He has been lucky enough to have resided, at least in part, within the natural ranges for most of the "defined" Hyalophora taxa, so he has first hand experience with most.

Currently, he lives in Washington state and has been paying close attention to the various Hyalophora "euryalus-kasloensis" influenced populations ranging across the Pacific nw, B.C., Washington, n. Idaho & w. Montana - thus far, all "kasloensis" pop's seem to occupy, as expected, areas west of the "Continental Divide".
