Lime Green Midge - male

Lime Green Midge - Male
Enumclaw, Forested Unincorporated King County, Washington, USA
February 27, 2010
Size: 3.25mm
This little one spied on me for hours while I was on the computer last night. In truth, most likely drawn to the lamp. It continuously waved its front two legs back and forth through the air in a sweeping motion as if they were antennae.

Thanks, Ken!

Something in Chironominae, maybe?
Looks a bit like this:

The feathery antennae would make it a male, I believe.

Aha! Looks promising...
...but I am no authority on anything with 6 legs. It's in your hands now, lol. Thank you. :)

Actually
it's in the hands of those who actually know something about flies (I'm merely a dilettante, after all).
