Conenose - Reduvius personatus

Conenose - Reduvius personatus
Salt Lake City (40°46.727'W111°52.629'ele4609'), Salt Lake County, Utah, USA
July 1, 2005
Size: 16mm
Attracted to porch light. These show up after a hot dry spell, smaller black ones like this and larger brown ones (females?). They are willing to attempt blood feeding, I chickened out as the proboscis began to pierce the skin.

Super!
Some of the best shots I've seen of the "masked hunter," Reduvius personatus. This is an adult. The nymphs cover themselves in debris, looking like animated dust bunnies:-)

Thanks
for the ID. A while back, one (brown) was captured that laid eggs. The nymphs were maintained for a while on a diet of flightless Drosophila (and siblings). The survivors wore the dried husks of the prey, lost quite a few while cleaning the container. OOPS!
