Vinegar Flies (Drosophilidae) ? - Drosophila immigrans - female

Vinegar Flies (Drosophilidae) ? - Drosophila immigrans - Female
Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, USA
March 1, 2010
Size: 4-5mm
Is this is a Vinegar Fly. Drosophila maybe? Found a couple of these feeding on a rotting lemon that fell off the tree.
If anyone can confirm or direct me to the ID would be appreciated. Also sex? Is this a female by chance?

Thanks, Bruce

Drosophila sp. - female
This could well be the widespread D. immigrans.

Drosophila I.D.
yes this is a female D. immigrans, you can tell by the abdominal pattern and dark spots on the wing.
