Moved from Calleida. This ID is based on comparative material from the same general area that was ID'd by George Ball in 1994.

ha! thanks much
sometimes exclusion procedures do work...

i wonder what C. fimbriata Bates may look like...
this one, clearly concpecific with & , has rather convex, sparsely punctate intervals and no metallic luster except on elytra -- unlike those IDed by Ed as punctulata; planulata (also recorded from the area) is very different, too...

Moved from Lebiini.

Consider Calleida punctulata
tentatively based on comparisons with images already in BugGuide. I'm open to other suggestions as the southwestern carabid fauna is outside my comfort zone for "image recognition only". One problem (real or just apparent?) is that I do not see convincingly the necessary dense punctae on elytra in image necessary for this species.

might well be; Terry Erwin says, Calleida, too:
"...Unfortunately, all of our Calleida specimens are on loan to Achille Casale in Italy, thus I have no way of comparing your species (there are 9 spp. of this genus recorded from Texas). I suggest you send your images to Dr. Casale, as he will be able to give you an accurate determination." [i got this note from him ~an hour ago]
