Pygarctia sp? - Lymire edwardsii
Ft. De Soto Park, Pinellas County, Florida, USA
March 2, 2010
I've looked through all images on BG and MPG, and this orange-headed white moth looks to me to match #8253.1. But that species isn't on Heppner's FL checklist, so I'm stumped!

Thanks to Bob Patterson for getting this moth identified. I considered L. edwardsii, because Ficus, the host plant, is in the immediate area and I've also photographed the caterpillar there. But this moth was pure white (looked even whiter in life), and the edwardsii adults were gray in all the photos I've seen of this species.
