Attine appreciation day
Oh man, I will concur wholeheartedly about these ants. Dinosaurish indeed - they're wonderfully sculpted and possess attractive subtle patterns of flattened setae. Ants are such a pleasure to look at, so morphologically plastic and well selected for their niches. Attines/fungus growers have such a look to them. Again, nice shots! When I first saw these they struck me as Alex Wild images (http://myrmecos.net/north-american-ants/).
