Dorsal view showing "salt and pepper" appearance of broad wing scales.
I suppose I should mention that the larvae of these do not have the "traditional" respiratory siphon of Culicines, but instead have a saw-like piercing siphon to puncture the airspace in submerged vegetation. This is a characteristic they share with Coquilletidia.
