Small-eyed tan autumn beetles - Cryptophagus

Small-eyed tan autumn beetles - Cryptophagus
Nashua and Hollis, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
Size: 3 - 3.5 mm
Yup, they've got smaller eyes, in proportion to their size at least, than the big-eyed tan autumn beetles I just posted. They're also longer by 1-1.5mm. They could be of a single dimorphic species or very similar species. I noticed them for about a week in early November. The first few I captured and photographed were loaded up with attached globules that I'm guessing are immature mites in their sacs. The pix in this posting are of various small-eyed individuals -- their eye diameter equal to about half the distance between their antennal bases. The beetles were collected and photographed in two towns on various dates between Nov. 1 and Nov. 7, 2005.

Cryptophagidae: Cryptophagus sp.
I think. Usually there is a distinct blunt mediolateral angulation on the pronotum, which can be seen in one photo, but not in the others.

So moved.

Thanks to you and Don Chandler for ID
It's another new family for bugguide!

That would be nice.
It's always my hope to add new families to bugguide, so thanks for the suggestion. Let's see what others think.
