The Elateridae (Coleoptera) of the Maritime Provinces of Canada: faunal composition, new records, and taxonomic changes
By C.G. Majka & P.J. Johnson
Zootaxa 1811: 1–33, 2008
An impressive 125-spp. checklist, with a total of 64 new provincial records and one species newly recorded in Canada. Zoogeographically, 117 spp. are Nearctic, 4 are Holarctic, and 4 are introduced Palaearctic species. In an unorthodox move, Dr. Johnson describes a number of new genera in this paper of otherwise local import and faunal rather than taxonomic nature, and proposes 25 new combinations, all further depopulating what was once known in North America as ‘Ctenicera’.
