Cibdelis blaschkei
This is the only species in the area. The other species of Cibdelis is found only in Southern California (CA Beetle Project)

Not a Tenbrioninae
Cibdelis is a Coelometopinae. While the characters that distinguish Tenebrioninae may be hard to see without a scope, such as presence of certain type of sensilla on apical anteomeres, for the most part the two subfamilies can be seperated by presence of tomentose golden setae on tarsei of Celometopinae.

Cibdelis sp.
Just checked the collection, and the dense yellow setae on the tarsi (on a different picture of this specimen) easily separate Cibdelis from Eleodes. There is another picture of Cibdelis (dorsal views) on bugguide also.

Thanks, Don.
That's a good trait to watch for. I actually found two spp. with dense yellow tarsal setae on that trip to California, but the pix of the other were too poor to submit.

Cibdelis sp.?
Looks like a Cibdelis to me. You find them associated with logs/under bark, while Eleodes would be rarely taken there (Coelocnemis and Iphthiminus would be found there also).

Very well,
I've created a genus page for these. Your comment will serve as a question mark for anyone looking for a positive ID.
