I feel the same as you do - but as some authorities have decided this beeing a Lagriine . . .

I think, there are even funnier ones now placed in this subfamily.

Ouch!
It hurts trying to wrap my mind around this thing being a lagriine, even an atypical one. It does however resemble these Web images of Paratenetus: 1 and 2.

There are two species on Don Chandler's checklist for New Hampshire, P.fusc*us, P. gibbipen*nis.
