Antron douglasii
The gall is created by Antron douglasii. The galls are bright pink when they're fresh but turn darker and brownish or purplish when they are older.

The host can't be Q. agrifolia (coast live oak, which is a black oak) because this gall doesn't occur on black oaks. The host has to be a white oak, probably Q. berberidifolia.

Are you finding these galls on the same tree, or same kinds of oaks, as these galls?? There are only a few possible species of oaks in the area where you're finding these, so it would be good to be able to tell them apart -- it makes the gall identifications much easier! When that fails, the galls often help narrow down the possibilities but without a good plant ID the gall ID is sometimes not possible.

The adult is definitely a cynipid this time, not a parasitoid, and is probably a male.
