Coccinella difficilis, perhaps
Not C. transversoguttata, no matter how hard I tried to turn it into one! (The orange markings just don't match.) It looks most similar to C. difficilis although I am not 100% sure. I'm putting it back in Coccinella genus, though, for ease of comparison. (It's worth noting that the C. difficilis larvae on BugGuide are also in Colorado.)

Coccinella, and not 7-spot
Nice angle on the pronotum, having the tubercles silhoutted makes this easy to separate from the most similar larvae (H_ippodamia). It's not C. septempunctata (yay!) - 7-spots only have orange markings as far back as the 4th abdominal segment.

Not sure what it is, but it could be quite exciting! I'll check some of my larval resources. I'm desperately trying to get the key to N. Amer. Coccinella larvae by Gordon & Vandenberg, but even w/o that, I may be able to narrow it down.

Do you have a larger version of the image, or a closeup of the head and forelegs? I'd like a better look at the tarsal claws and mandibles.

added a closeup
I'm wondering if it might be Transverse lady beetle larva. I found adults in the area.

native Coccinella
I was very happy to see your Transverse adult images, and hope that this is one of their larvae! There are some other native Coccinella spp. in your area as well, though. Any native species is a good find and I hope to ID this one soon! Thanks for the added closeup image, that should help a lot.

sounds good, thanks for the help
I'll park in in genus for now.
