Dang, I missed the butterfly - Pieris rapae

Dang, I missed the butterfly - Pieris rapae
Alameda County, California, USA
March 16, 2010
Only exuviae here, folks. This morning, the wing area of the chrysalis had turned yellowish. Going by the color changes in an older chrysalis of the same species from which a butterfly emerged recently, I expected an adult two or three days from now. This afternoon, when I went out to photograph the yellowness, a Pieris rapae was sitting on the wall just above the meconium drip at the left. It flew off when I got near. It was yellow, as is typical of a winter brood, although I see white ones here, too.
