Identification
Suberect spatulate scale-like "setae". These are lacking in Calyptillus, which it resembles.
These setae longer, and more densely set as in other "Trachyphloeus" found in N-America.
Range
Nonnative species from Europe; recorded from WI, AB, ON
Remarks
Recently emerged specimens are clean and they get dirty and coated with a mix of soil and secretions as they age.
