I only got this one shot from 6 feet, I was walking the woods of some high dry land

Looks like Alypia (Noctuidae).
There are two very similar species in your area (
A. octomaculata and A. wittfeldii
), and I'm not familiar enough with these moths to tell you which one you've got. Perhaps someone else will let you know. In the meantime, you can look at both
