Unknown Spider or Insect - Eurybunus

Unknown Spider or Insect - Eurybunus
Indio HIlls, Riverside County, California, USA
March 23, 2010
Size: 1/4 Inch
Its is a strange little guy never seen one like it around before. Walks like a spider but behaves like an insect going for the light rather then away from it. Not sure what to make of it. It apears to have 6 legs of equal size 2 much longer legs, and 2 very tiny feelers, feelers and 2 what could only bedescribed as fangs thought there is no fang visable merely what resembles a fang sheath on a spider.

Moved from ID Request.

Harvestman (Order Opiliones).
In fact, it looks like it might be one of the Desert Harvestmen in the Genus Eurybunus:

But I'm not an expert, so I may be wrong about the genus.

Harvestmen are arachnids, like spiders, but they have no venom. You can read more about them in the Guide here.

If you look carefully...
you'll notice that it has 4 legs on one side, so it's an arachnid- I would suspect a harvestman, Order Opiliones. I'm sure someone who knows more than I do will take the ID further and/or correct it

!!!!!!!!!!
I had one of these in my old apartment in Downtown San Diego. I saw it out of the corner of my eye when I was falling asleep one night reading. I only had a reading light on, but it never came close to the light. It moved like it had been drinking all night and it freaked me out so bad I ran out of my apartment and stayed with a friend that night. Along with that INSANE bug I had centipedes, huge roaches, and to say the least, I moved. But, before I moved I insisted that my land lady had someone look at the crazy bug (it died sometime in the night..) and she told me it was some kind of silverfish.. I didn't believe it then, and I don't believe it now. I'd love to know what this thing would have done to me if I would have fallen asleep 10 minutes sooner.
Thanks
