Hawthorn Gall

Hawthorn Gall
Enumclaw, Forested Unincorporated King County, Washington, USA
March 8, 2010
Size: bug=1.25mm
I cut the could-be gall open with a dull blade so it sort of broke apart all over the place, but I did find lots of little flies or wasps inside. Did they die because they couldn't make it out of the gall?
