Eucinetus morio

Found in leaf litter. This little beetle was jumping like crazy, like a flea gone mad.

Hi Tom,
Do you still have this specimen? If so can you take a very careful look at the hind tibial spurs? I'm thinking this might be
E. morio
. I think
morio
has 2 apical tibial spurs on the metathoracic legs. The elytral strigae here seem rather more narrow than those I have seen on any
E. strigosus
I have encountered.
Thanks.

Close up added
Jeff, I think I see the 2 tibial spurs in the close up. So does that make this E. morio?

Wow...
that was faster than Jimmy John's!
My eucinetid keys are down at the lab. I should be down there by midweek at the latest. If I remember correctly, I think the 2 apical metatibial spurs are what separate
morio
from the other
Eucinetus
species.
Thanks for the closeup. Definitely 2 spurs.

Hi Tom
Been doing some reseach in AM. This is a Eucinetus sp. (Nycteus lacks the transverse lines). Based on color and location, this is most-certainly E. strigosus! Nice!

Eucinetidae
Eucinetus or Nycteus. I dont have a ton of experience with this family.
