Unknown Bug - Periplaneta australasiae

Unknown Bug - Periplaneta australasiae
Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina, USA
March 28, 2010
Size: 1-2"?
Photographed this insect in the greenhouse at the Biltmore Estate.

Yes, good call by John Maxwell. This is a nice picture of a late instar Australian cockroach, and I've added a thumbnail of it to the Periplaneta overview page.

Moved from ID Request.

Not an ID
but maybe Periplaneta australasiae (Australian Cockroach)

I think you're right
BTW, the so-called "Australian" Cockroach is from African origin, just like its "American" relative.
