Ammophila pictipennis - Ammophila procera
Lake Placid, Highlands County, Florida, USA
November 15, 2009
Size: 25mm roughly
I am putting this straight to species, based on previous IDs of other specimens, with confidence someone will correct me if I am wrong. The plant it was feeding on is Palafoxia feayi.

Ammophila procera
Moved from Ammophila pictipennis. A. pictipennis has reddish wings. A. procera has a finely ridged pronotal collar which separates it from the two other species that occur in your area: A. urnaria and A. pictipennis.

Arrgh!
