Blue dragonfly - Erythemis simplicicollis - male

Blue dragonfly - Erythemis simplicicollis - Male
Lake Placid, Highlands County, Florida, USA
November 15, 2009
Size: 40mm roughly

Moved
Moved from Dragonflies. Thanks for the help on the ID, I have corrected the size.

The size has to be wrong
This is most certainly male, Erythemis simplicicollis, but that would be much larger than 20 mm, probably even larger than 40mm

A stab in the dark...
This seems "a little" small for a Blue Dasher (Pachydiplax longipennis), but the colour fits...In the right range for a Little Blue Dragonlet (Erythrodiplax minuscula) which also fits for the colour, but the eyes don't seem right. But do go have a look at those and see what you think, while awaiting another opinion. (Don't have much experience with Fla species except those that occur way up here in Canada)
