Sphenophorus inaequalis (Say) note the apical expansion of the fore tibiae.

looks like...
Sphenophorus cariosus, with the diamon-shaped smooth area in the center of the pronotum. But the gestalt doesn't look right. I can try and key out later tonight if Charlie or others don't get to it first. You can safely move to Sphenophorus for the time being if you'd like.

After looking at the images of Sphenophorus cariosus here in the Guide, I see what you mean.
I have a decent ventral image, that I can add if needed.
