NC Spider - Gladicosa gulosa

NC Spider - Gladicosa gulosa
HIddenite, Alexander County, North Carolina, USA
November 24, 2005
Thought this was a nursery web spider, but when I compared it to my 2004 photo, it was not the same - can anyone ID?

Wolf spider
I think it's a wolf spider of some kind. It looks a bit like the Geolycosa in my guide, but that doesn't mean much.

mm.
you know you're getting yourslef in trouble when you disgaree with Lynette, but i dont think this is a burrowing wolf spider. I think this is just a Lycosa.

Oh no trouble disagreeing,
the genus part is a wild guess only. Definitely could be something else.

Lycosidae.
I'd just leave it at family for now. Spiders in general are really messy to ID beyond that, with a few obvious exceptions:-) Nice images, though, and a lycosid expert could probably tell us more.
