Collembola of some type, could it be color variant of Podura aquatica? - Ceratophysella

Collembola of some type, could it be color variant of Podura aquatica? - Ceratophysella
Mount Vernon, Kennebec County, Maine, USA
February 1, 2010
Size: 2.5mm
Seen many snow fleas this time of year, but I have never seen these before. We had a warm Feb which left puddles on our dirt road. During my daily morning walk I see all of these collemboli(?) in the puddles, thousands upon thousands, all dead the next day. Perhaps they had just mated?

Collembola of some type, could it be color variant of Podura aquatica? - Ceratophysella same as before, a little more definition - Ceratophysella

Ceratophysella sp.
It is indeed a gathering with one purpose: reproduction.
They should simply disperse within a few days.
'all dead the next day' then they must have been poisoned...

Plural form of Collembola = Collembola.
